Doula Services

Welcome to Off Grid In Color’s Doula Services:

A Healthy Push

Helping expecting parents birth like a boss!

A doula accompanies birth givers* in labor to help ensure a safe and satisfying birth experience. Using knowledge and experience, a doula provides emotional support, physical comfort and, as needed, communication with the medical staff to make sure that families have the information needed to make informed decisions as they arise in labor. They can provide reassurance and perspective to you and your partner; doulas make suggestions, not decisions, for labor and its progress.

Why do you need a Doula?

A labor doula will meet with the birth giver and their family prenatally to discuss the birth giver’s desires. She will help the soon-to-be parent(s) develop a birth plan and understand all the choices that encompass pregnancy, childbirth, and early postpartum period.

Several studies have proven the following benefits to having a doula present at your birth:

  • Reduction in cesarean rate
  • Shorter labor
  • Reduction in epidural requests
  • Reduction in Pitocin/Oxytocin use
  • Reduction in forceps
  • Increase in breastfeeding

Let me be your healthy push!

I have received my Master’s in Social Work and professional education for the role of doula. I’ve educated many birth givers about birthing options and assisted in bringing beautiful babies into the world. My use of relaxation, massage, essential oil, positioning and other techniques are for your comfort and gentle progression into the birth process. As your doula, I am working for you and you are in charge of the show. Whether you want to an all-natural birth, a planned cesarean session, and whether this is your first or third child, my purpose is to ensure that you have the birth that you want.
